Cost Recovery
Oregon Revised Statues ORS 478.310 authorizes the Fire District to be reimbursed for costs reasonably incurred in furnishing firefighting or public safety service costs when an incident occurs on a transportation route or other ‘unprotected’ areas. This includes motor vehicle accidents, fires, etc. The Hoodland Fire District Board of Directors has adopted a policy to recover costs for response and associated costs, except when the recipient of the services is a taxpayer within the Fire District.
It is the policy of the Hoodland Fire District to authorize the Fire Chief to seek reimbursement from the person(s) receiving services, property owner, or the responsible party for fires, airplane crash, or other public safety incident occurring outside of a Fire District (unprotected property) or on a transportation route in which no taxes or assessments are levied by the Fire District.
